English Estates: Dunhill Root Briar Patent (58) (R) (1935)
Product Number: 004-002-17463
A vintage, Patent Dunhill is hard to beat, and when it's a vintage patent Root Briar with a rare bowling ball stem, well, I'm not sure that can be beat. Turned in 1935, it's a streamlined form that perfectly encapsulates the traditional English shape, with Group 4 proportions ensuring a generous chamber size and finished off with a vintage stem fashioned from bowling ball material. (Dunhill used this occasionally on early Root Briars, but the material would eventually be set aside with the arrival of brindled vulcanite.) As far as condition, it has some scraping/carbonizing in the chamber, the stamping is a little faint from buffing, and the stem has some tooth marks and is a little over-buffed as well; however, it's still in excellent shape to be 84 years old and worthy of a spot on a collector's rack.- Kaz Walters
