English Estates: Dunhill Shell Patent (44) (1948)

Product Number: 004-002-17470

Crafted back in 1948, this vintage Dunhill Shell Patent is a trim, petite take on the straight Billiard. Since it hails from the legendary marque's highly sought-after Patent Era, the sandblasted finish here is exceptionally craggy and has brought out a plethora of rugged texture for the fingers to wander over. Not to mention all the mesmerizing waves of rippling grain that creep up all around the bowl. Said bowl exhibits a noticeable degree of forward cant in profile and is paired to a flattened oval shank and a lengthy, tapered vulcanite mouthpiece. This offering is also remarkably light weight and the shank's flattened underside allows it to sit stably on desk tops. And while this particular piece is 71 years old, it's in remarkably excellent condition for its age and will surely please any Dunhill collector with its rarity, elegant shaping, and craggy sandblast.
