English Estates: Ashton Pebble Grain Dublin (LX)
Product Number: 004-002-17613
From the sheer visual weight of the bowl compared to the shank and stem, if I'd seen this piece at a glance, I probably would have assumed it was the work of some Italian neo-classical artisan or workshop — the Italian neo-classical school, as a rule, being well-known for their visually heavy bowls. As you can see, it is actually an Ashton, and an "LX" at that. The forward cant and comparatively trim shank and stem have lent it quite a sleek, striking silhouette in profile, and despite the bowl's overall size, its chamber is actually fairly modest — in other words, quite a bit of chamber wall here.- Andrew Wike
