English Estates: Ashton Old Church Bent Dublin (XXX) (1999)
Product Number: 004-002-17829
Quite Calabash-esque in its execution, this Ashton bent Dublin displays a rounded rim, a high-set waistline, and a upward reaching shank and stem combination. While the bowl is stout and houses a respectably deep chamber, this piece is remarkably lightweight and should hang from the jaw easily thanks to the downturned saddle stem. We find it here dressed in a rugged application of the Old Church finish, with its normal tan stain having been turned a earthy brown color, a result of developing a patina from use over its 20 years of life. That said, it's still in great condition all around and is well-equipped to deliver several more years of enjoyment.- Jeffery Sitts
