English Estates: Ashton Sovereign Acorn with Gallery Silver (LX) (2005) (Unsmoked)

Product Number: 004-002-18387

The Acorn isn't a shape most readily associated with the English school, and yet this rendition from Ashton is one of my favorites from the English workshop. It's an exceptionally robust, bowl-centric rendition and was crafted in 2005 under Bill Taylor's supervision. The bowl wears its waistline high, utilizing a subtle ridgeline to accentuate the rim's taper with the transition sitting neatly tucked away underneath. The warm auburn stain of the Sovereign finish does a magnificent job of showcasing the briar's beautiful grain patterns as lively streaks of flame grain can be seen cascading down the bowl's flanks. It's all topped off with an ornate sterling silver accent, further ensuring this piece will stand out in any collection it graces. And not to mention, it's still unsmoked.
