English Estates: Comoy's Grand Slam Patent (212) (*7) (US Pat.) (post-1945)
Product Number: 004-002-19667
Much like vintage Blue Ribands, Comoy's Grand Slam pieces are highly sought after and are some of the most prized pipes in collections. They represent some of the best Comoy's crafted back in the day with this Lovat being one of them. Fashioned sometime between 1933 and 1945, the historic marque simply nailed the classic English shape with this rendition, displaying a subtle, rounded bowl, a respectably deep chamber, and an arrow straight profile. The stummel's walnut stain showcases some particularly nice grain, and the shank's flattened underside allows it to sit stably. However, a pipe with this kind of rich history and pedigree deserves to be cradled in hand as much as possible.- Jeffery Sitts
