English Estates: Dunhill Bruyere 'Inner Tube' Patent with Silver Army Mount (1929)
Product Number: 004-002-19661
Dunhill's inner tubes were once utilized as a means of keeping the inside of a pipe clean before the widespread use of pipe cleaners. The aluminum tubes could be replaced easily once becoming dirty. This bent Billiard Patent piece from 1929 lacks the tube but is certainly a rare, vintage find and a compact one at that. Artfully designed and lightweight with a gracefully arcing, trim shank and elegantly tapered stem, this piece is further commended by a silver army mount, which lends additional elegance to the form and allows the pipe to be broken down, even when hot. Dressed in the English marque's ruby-tinged Bruyere finish, this more than 90-year-old piece is certainly worthy of consideration from discerning collectors.-Angela Robertson
