English Estates: Dunhill Root Briar (ODA) (850) (1964)
Product Number: 004-002-19732
For some time after WWII, Dunhill's ODA grade and their illusive "800" series shapes seemed to go hand in hand. This phenomenon came with the marque's introduction of new shapes both significantly larger than their standard numbers and smaller than the pre-war magnums. These pipes were given a shape number between "806" and "857" (with a few exceptions in between), and were stamped "ODA." Thus, one of the most desirable and sought after line of pipes was born — a trend that continues to this day. Presented here is a lengthy, deep-chambered Canadian from 1964, dressed in the warm chestnut stain of the Root Briar finish which is one of the highest honors a Dunhill pipe can receive, as the briar must be free of even the most minor of blemishes.- Andrew Wike
