English Estates: Dunhill Root Briar Prov. Prot. (40) (c.1931) (Replacement Stem)
Product Number: 004-002-19920
Compact and slender, this Dunhill Lovat was fashioned around 1931 and is adorned with the exceptionally rare Prov. Prot. stamp. It likely had a Vernon tenon at one point, an aluminum gadget with three tines introduced in 1931 and used until World War II. Additionally, this classic pipe features the prestigious smooth, auburn Root Briar finish, which required a perfectly clean bowl with excellent grain and was rare because of the scarcity of briar needed to achieve it. This pipe wears a replacement stem, but is still quite collectable.-Angela Robertson
