English Estates: Dunhill Root Briar (5110) (1987)
Product Number: 004-002-20098
Dunhill's "10" shape is a quintessential Liverpool, the shank neatly elongated and paired to a tapered stem, separating it from the saddle-stemmed Lovat and keeping the form extra sleek and streamlined. Perfectly proportioned, this piece could easily fit into any Group size based solely on the pictures; however, this particular offering is a muscular Group 5, offering a substantial presence in hand. The vivid, natural stain of the Root Briar finish illuminates the briar's natural grain and cements its traditional appeal.
The highest honor for a Dunhill pipe is to receive the prestigious Root Briar appellation. Root Briars have been coveted by pipe smokers ever since they first debuted in 1931, due to the fact that each pipe must boast briar completely free of even the most minor of blemishes. Dunhill has the strictest of standards and expectations for quality with all of their pipes, and so any block of briar that comes to bear the Root Briar stamp must indeed be superlative.-Truett Smith
