English Estates: Dunhill Root Briar (6401) (1999) (Unsmoked)
Product Number: 004-002-20372
Rendered in hearty Group 6 size, this "01" bent Apple from Dunhill is stunning in its shaping and classic appeal. From the hearty bowl, with its impressive chamber depth contained within plump walls, to the continuing muscularity of the shank and sharply downturned stem, this is a remarkable piece. This Root Briar example is dressed in a light chestnut stain that showcases the striking flame grain along the flanks with birdseye speckling the rim and heel. Fashioned back in 1999, this pipe has remained unsmoked since it was created.
The highest honor for a Dunhill pipe is to receive the prestigious Root Briar appellation. Root Briars have been coveted by pipe smokers ever since they first debuted in 1931, due to the fact that each pipe must boast briar completely free of even the most minor of blemishes. Dunhill has the strictest of standards and expectations for quality with all of their pipes, and so any block of briar that comes to bear the Root Briar stamp must indeed be superlative.-Angela Robertson
