English Estates: Charatan's Make Special Bent Opera (00-1) (pre-1960)
Product Number: 004-002-29100
The compact Opera shape was originally intended for an evening spent at the theatre, and this pocket-friendly, vintage offering from Charatan's is a fine example. Fashioned before 1960, this deeply bent Nosewarmer offers an extended heel and sinuous S-curve, whereas many traditional Opera designs are straight renditions, making this a more uncommon, collectable piece. More than most other classic Anglo-French marques, Charatan pipes allow for playful shaping and sizing, with the stummel's smooth finish remaining traditional, the chestnut stain showing off the briar's natural grain patterns.
