English Estates: Dunhill Bruyere 'Innertube' Patent (112) (1923)

Product Number: 004-002-29556

Dated to 1923, this Dunhill Apple is nearing a century old, but it presents as timelessly as ever. Marked with an Inntertube patent, this piece boasts a rounded bowl of petite proportions and a lithe stem and shank combination, creating a sleek profile. Dressed in Dunhill's first finish, the Bruyere finish, the luscious flame grain and birdseye deepen in dark ruby hues. Complimenting the darkness of the stummel, the vulcanite stem tapers quite a bit longer than the shank length, giving the piece a certain asymmetric flair. This vintage piece is perfect for a collector of classic Dunhills.

The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.
