English Estates: Dunhill Root Briar (LBS) (4) (R) (1975) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-31741
The "LBS" is in essence a more slender, but still fairly large, (Group 4 size) sibling to the Dunhill "LB" straight Billiard. This shape had a pretty good run, first appearing post-WWII and continuing on until at least the mid-1970s (then reappearing again, for a little while at least, in the 1990s). As for this specific example of the LBS, it is a fetching one, dating back to 1975 and displaying some choice flame grain. Dressed in the esteemed Root Briar finish that ensures its briar be completely free of blemishes, this vintage pipe also feels silky smooth in hand and houses an impressive chamber capacity.
The highest honor for a Dunhill pipe is to receive the prestigious Root Briar appellation. Root Briars have been coveted by pipe smokers ever since they first debuted in 1931, due to the fact that each pipe must boast briar completely free of even the most minor of blemishes. Dunhill has the strictest of standards and expectations for quality with all of their pipes, and so any block of briar that comes to bear the Root Briar stamp must indeed be superlative.
