English Estates: Dunhill Shell Briar with Silver Army Mount (5102) (1990s-2000s)

Product Number: 004-002-29780

A robust, tall bent Billiard in hearty Group 5 size, this "02" from Dunhill features a tall, deep-chambered bowl that's a bit more softly rounded with a sweeping, extended heel. It's further characterized by a stunning silver army mount that's loosely modeled after the shell casings soldiers used during wartime to quickly repair their pipes. Not only does the mount seen here lend further elegance, along with a dress pipe aesthetic, it allows the pipe to be broken down, even when hot, not to mention that it lends structure to the shank. It's topped by a gently bent push-style stem, the dark stain mirrored in the marque's Shell Briar sandblast that envelops the stummel. The dark finish does well to highlight the briar's handsome grain, including an abundance of growth rings. Comfortable in hand, striking in profile and easily clenched, this pipe is quite collectable.
