English Estates: James Upshall Smooth Rhodesian (S) (5) (FH) Tobacco Pipe

While much attention and devotion is paid to the great English marques and factories of yesteryear, it's easy to forget that there exists some fine British briars made by hand, like those by James Upshall. Compared to other classic shapes we've seen from Upshall, the Rhodesian is far less represented in the workshop's impressively vast, high-quality portfolio. This example is a tall, forward-canting rendition, featuring a wide bowl with domed rim and traditional beadlines. An alluring dark ruby stain showcases the briar's natural grain while a jet-black saddle stem lends contrast.
