English Estates: GBD Century Acorn with Perspex Stem (9611) (pre-1980) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-31369
Acorns from GBD are fairly uncommon, and this particular shape even more so, as we have never received it before. The bowl here sits atop a firm, spurred heel from which it flares, Dublin-like, to an inward-sloping rim, allowing for easy loading of tobacco. The stem is angled upward very slightly and showcases a slight taper from the wide transition to the base of the clear, demurely downturned, Perspex saddle stem, keeping the aft of this piece sleek and elegant. A warm mahogany stain dresses the briar of this pre-1980 piece, revealing birdseye on either flank of the bowl, something especially prevalent on the left flank.
