English Estates: Dunhill Root Briar Collector Bent Dublin (1983) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-002-31399

Dunhill's Collector line was introduced in 1978 and consists of hand-carved pipes that deviate from the English marque's standard shape chart. The line showcases Dunhill's more creative, playful side, similar to their Quaint series, as evidenced by this bent Billiard. Dated to 1983, this vintage piece features a rounded bowl with a softly inflated rim. The shank flares lightly coming out of the transition before giving way to an arcing, tapered stem of jet-black vulcanite, adding a willowy note to the pipe's profile that offsets the plump proportions of the bowl. The handsome, wind-swept flame grain across the flanks of the bowl and whorls of birdseye across the rim are dressed in the fetching Root Briar finish for added visual intrigue.

The highest honor for a Dunhill pipe is to receive the prestigious Root Briar appellation. Root Briars have been coveted by pipe smokers ever since they first debuted in 1931, due to the fact that each pipe must boast briar completely free of even the most minor of blemishes. Dunhill has the strictest of standards and expectations for quality with all of their pipes, and so any block of briar that comes to bear the Root Briar stamp must indeed be superlative.
