English Estates: James Upshall Smooth Dublin (P) (FH) (5) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-31914
Strikingly svelte and remarkably light for its overall length of over six inches, this straight Dublin from James Upshall displays the talent of the English workshop quite well. Not only this, but the profile here is wonderfully classic, falling in line with the chart-standard shaping that you would come to expect from Anglo-French marques. The stem is a lengthy stretch of black, tapered vulcanite that's paired to a low-lying shank which ebbs out from a wide transition more than accepting of a draped digit. The bowl here sits atop a rounded heel and takes on a subtle forward cant, its walls possessed of a gentle flare to the rim that draws the eye to the fore. Dressing the briar here is a dark chestnut stain that reveals handsome grain throughout, with birdseye present on both flanks of the bowl.
