English Estates: Dunhill Cumberland (11061) (1984) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-32752
A demure Group 2 piece, this Pot by Dunhill displays the storied English marque's traditional aesthetic and shaping standards. The pert bowl is paired to a slim round shank fitted with a handsome cumberland stem, making this a perfect pocket-pipe for the discerning smoker. Dressed in Dunhill's Cumberland finish, the tan sandblast reveals fine growth rings contrasted nicely by the smooth rim
When Alfred Dunhill released his patented Shell Briar, he forever changed the pipe-smoking world at large. Dunhill has often been credited with being the first to offer sandblasted pipes (arguably the most popular finish today), and the Cumberland finish further displayed Dunhill's innovative spirit. Well received after its release in 1979, the Cumberland series was named for the English marque's warehouse on Cumberland road, and the line's signature, brindled vulcanite stem became so iconic, the warmly striated material is now referred to simply as "cumberland."-Gabriel Bass
