English Estates: Dunhill Root Briar (513) (1975) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-32860
Dated to 1975, this "513" Billiard from Dunhill features a tall, Stack-like bowl that stands proudly at the fore of a slender, arrow-straight shank-and-stem arrangement. Even given the bowl's towering height, the overall form maintains a refined balance, the bowl, shank, and stem all more or less harmoniously aligned. The bowl houses a good bit of chamber within its rounded insulating walls, and the transition leaves plenty of space to drape a finger. The Root Briar smooth finish dresses the stummel and highlights a beautiful array of birdseye and cross grain about the bowl.
The highest honor for a Dunhill pipe is to receive the prestigious Root Briar appellation. Root Briars have been coveted by pipe smokers ever since they first debuted in 1931, due to the fact that each pipe must boast briar completely free of even the most minor of blemishes. Dunhill has the strictest of standards and expectations for quality with all of their pipes, and so any block of briar that comes to bear the Root Briar stamp must indeed be superlative.
