English Estates: Loewe & Co. Smooth Bent Billiard with Silver (c.1920) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-33002
A wonderfully compact bent Billiard from Lowe & Co., this piece from the English marque displays an Author-like disposition thanks to its plump, pert bowl and thick stretch of shank and stem. Nearly Nosewarmer length at under five inches long, this pipe is actually rather light despite its muscular frame, and though the curve of shank and stem may not be as deep as other bent Billiards, it still provides a lovely posture for jaw-hanging. Compared to the shank and stem base, the bowl here is actually rather compact, with a conservative breadth and respectable height that is full with curves, nearly Apple-esque as it sits atop its rounded heel. Said shank lifts out of an acute transition and tapers to a junction marked by a broad silver fitment, meeting the stem which continues the taper all the way to the button. Dressed in a warm mahogany stain, this piece showcases some handsome grain throughout, while the accent and black vulcanite stem provide both compliment and contrast, culminating in a timeless aesthetic sure to please lovers of classic English pipes.
