English Estates: Dunhill Christmas (No.16) (1982) (with Case) (Unsmoked) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-33068
This Dunhill straight Apple commemorates the Christmas of 1982 and is included with is felt-lined book-shaped case. Featuring a reserved chamber capacity amid thick, insulating walls, the squat, plump bowl is set to a short shank and elongated stem that tapers consistently toward the button for a striking profile. Dressed in the dark, smoky hues of the Bruyere finish, this pipe showcases swirling birdseye on either flank of the bowl, while the rim and heel present lovely striations of cross grain. Unabashedly elegant, this pipe is light and handy despite its length of nearly six inches, and its broad band of silver at the junction lends the presentation further contrast and timeless appeal. Additionally, despite its 40 years of age, this pipe remains in unsmoked condition.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.-Gabriel Bass
