English Estates: Dunhill Bruyere (4204) (2015) (Unsmoked) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-33253
An iconic shape realized in classic fashion, this "04" Bulldog from Dunhill is a handsome pipe possessed of a muscular character, but with sleek, clean lines and a smooth finish that lend it a regal demeanor. The timeless saddle stem glides smoothly into the transition, matching perfectly the ridges of the shank as they continue toward the bowl, continuing until they meet the beadlines where they dissipate organically. The heel urges forward and cants the bowl slightly, creating a pleasing momentum that leads the eye directly to the beadlines, where the bowl flares and then tapers to the rim. The stummel is dressed in Dunhill's Bruyere finish, which elevates the pipe with its dark stain and smooth texture, revealing natural grain and matching exceedingly well with the black vulcanite of the stem, making this a pipe well-suited to dress purposes or every day smoking.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.
