English Estates: Dunhill Bruyere (315) (F/T) (2) (A) (1973) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-33292
An endearing, classic shape, the Prince can also be called one of the most elegant, as typified in this Group 2 size from Dunhill. Crafted in 1973 and displaying the form's characteristic low-lying, softly rounded bowl, this piece boasts a lengthy, tapering stem. Dressed in the Bruyere smooth finish, the stummel displays a lively mixture of flame grain and birdseye around the bowl.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.--Davin Hylton
