Not all Dunhill Christmas pipes come in a book display, and that allows for more customers to acquire one at a given price point. Most of those pipes I've come across are sandblasted with silver bands, most likely because it's very difficult for a company to produce 400-800 pipes of the same shape that are all smooth - sandblasting opens up many doors and they look snazzy. In 1988, Dunhill opted to make smooth versions, as in this author with cumberland stem. The hallmarked silver band has Christmas greetings engraved on it's surface; Baum Natale, Joyeux Noel, Frohe Weihnacht, and Merry Christmas!
