English Estates: Dunhill Bruyere with Silver (5226) (2015) (Unsmoked) Tobacco Pipe

Alongside the traditional Calabash, the Oom Paul is one of the most curvaceous classic pipe designs, named the Hungarian on Dunhill's shape chart. It's marked by a full, sweeping bend through the stem and transition. While, in most cases, such curvature would result in an elegant disposition, the stretched heel and cylindrical bowl of this Group 5 "26" commands respect and presents a bold, imposing profile, softened only slightly by the ruby tones of the Bruyere finish and made even more visually striking thanks to the silver accent band.

The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.
