A historic English marque founded in 1868, Charatan were highly respected for their high-quality work in classic English style, with a penchant for more whimsical stylings in certain pieces. This unique Poker is a fine example of Charatan's freer side, featuring a tall, tapered bowl capped with rugged rustication and plateau that rests on a flattened heel at the fore of a slim round shank and distinctively carved transition. Out back, a vulcanite saddle stem promotes a comfortable smoking posture for this boldly proportioned piece. Dressed in a rich chestnut finish, the stummel boasts streaks of fine flame grain around the bowl.
