English Estates: Dunhill Bruyere with Silver (4135) (2019) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-33651
Featuring a tapering, forward-canted bowl atop a drooping heel, this "35" bent Dublin from Dunhill is a compact, handy pipe in Group 4 size. The proud bowl and smooth, gradual transition is followed by a gently rising shank and downturned stem similar to that of the Zulu shape, lending a seamless elegance to the profile. The warm ruby tone of the smoky Bruyere finish adds timeless appeal to this piece and is further elevated by a trim band of elegant silver.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.-John McElheny
