English Estates: GBD Virgin Billiard (135) (pre-1980) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-33741
Originally from St. Claude France, GBD was one of the first pipe makers to craft pipes from briar. Despite their French origins, GBD moved to London at the turn of the 20th century, and is predominantly known as a British brand. Here, GBD captures the classically Anglo-French Billiard with a beautiful piece of briar that displays swaths of swirling birdseye broken up by sweeping cross grain, all done in a gorgeous, auburn, smooth finish. The ample chamber is encompassed by a chamfered rim that slowly slopes into its dark walls. The bowl is supported by a solid, cylindrical shank that leads into a vulcanite tapered stem, which was hand cut to perfectly fit the mortise.
