Ashton's take on the Rhodesian tends to be more curvaceous than other workshop's renditions, foregoing the traditional muscularity of the shape for softer, rounder features. This piece is no different, with the sweeping heel and high-kicking shank-and-stem combination creating a fluid momentum that carries to the bit. The thick transition, the only note of firmness in the piece, contrasts with the elegant S-curve out back as well as the rotund bowl, which boasts its tapered rim and prominent ridgeline starkly in profile. Dressed in the ruby-tinged Pebble Grain sandblast and handsomely accented by a trim band of sterling silver, this is an elegant Rhodesian variant with a rather classy disposition.
