English Estates: Dunhill Chestnut with Silver (5128) (2013) (Unsmoked) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-33759
This "28" by Dunhill presents the Diplomat shape in a Group 5 size. Despite the Group 5 reputation for oversized pipes, this "28" feels like a smaller, more traditional, pipe in one's hand. The pipe has the oval shank, bent tapered stem, and squat bowl that have come to represent the quintessential Diplomat shape. The Chestnut finish on the stummel pairs with a bent cumberland saddle stem, which joins at a glistening silver band, offering a touch of flair to the traditional shaping.
A sibling to the Cumberland, Dunhill's Chestnut finish was inaugurated in 1983 to commemorate the closing of the Cumberland Rd. warehouse for which the Cumberland finish was named. Like the Cumberland, pipes in the Chestnut line wear the same dark, smoky stain and are fitted to stems of cumberland but feature a silky smooth, glossy finish compared to the Cumberland's rugged sandblast.
