Bill Ashton-Taylor got his start making pipes for Dunhill, but after mastering the craft, realized he needed to set out on his own, so he founded the British marque Ashton. Sadly, Bill passed away in 2009, but pipe maker Jimmy Craig proudly carries on the Ashton name. This "XXX" stamped Dublin by Ashton is possessed of a sizeable bowl and robust length, however, the flaring form is of a lightweight disposition, offering a more balanced smoking experience and greater aptitude for portability. Additionally, the stummel is dressed in Ashton's Pebble Grain sandblast, exposing rippling growth rings and dressing them in a dark stain.
