English Estates: Charatan's Make Executive Cutty Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-33930
Charatan boasts a long, well-respected history of pipe making, with Frederick Charatan founding the business in 1863. Charatan is known for their whimsical, often non-traditional shaping style compared to other English marques, and this vintage Cutty fits right in with that approach. Immediately reminiscent of the bent Dublin, this pipe presents with a striking forward cant about its bowl, one which informs a trumpeting flare out to the softly chamfered rim. This bowl rests atop a semi-flattened, angled heel that's spurred at the aft end and adds a bit of firmness to the composition. A wide transition leads to a tapering stretch of shank whose ovoid shape offers a lower-profile look in profile, paired here to a lengthy Double Comfort saddle stem which is demurely curved for more comfortable smoking. Dressed in a warm auburn stain, this pipe showcases tightly-knit flame grain wrapping around the bowl and following its forward cant to the rim well, leading the eye to a peppering of birdseye.
