English Estates: Dunhill Root Briar (4204) (2010) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-002-34173

An iconic shape realized in classic fashion, this "04" Bulldog from Dunhill is a handsome pipe possessed of a muscular character, but with sleek, clean lines and a smooth finish that lend it a regal demeanor. The timeless saddle stem glides smoothly into the transition, matching perfectly the ridges of the shank as they continue toward the bowl, continuing until they meet the beadlines where they dissipate organically. The heel urges forward and cants the bowl slightly, creating a pleasing momentum that leads the eye directly to the beadlines, where the bowl flares and then tapers to the rim. The stummel is dressed in Dunhill's iconic Root Briar finish, revealing some stunning grain while keeping the palette light and classic in concert with the stem's jet-black vulcanite.

The highest honor for a Dunhill pipe is to receive the prestigious Root Briar appellation. Root Briars have been coveted by pipe smokers ever since they first debuted in 1931, due to the fact that each pipe must boast briar completely free of even the most minor of blemishes. Dunhill has the strictest of standards and expectations for quality with all of their pipes, and so any block of briar that comes to bear the Root Briar stamp must indeed be superlative.
