English Estates: Dunhill Bruyere (2109) (2019) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-34069
For those who prefer more petite pipes but still enjoy the classic English style, Dunhill's Group 2 offerings fit the bill perfectly — they present enough chamber space for a variety of blends yet feature lightweight proportions, making them excellent travel pipes and hands-free smokers. Such is the case with this "09" Canadian. The reduced size adds even more sleekness to the elongated, oval shank, poising the Billiard bowl on the end, and its more abbreviated shank provides a lightweight persona for comfortable clenching, here presented in the ever-classic Bruyere finish.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.
