English Estates: James Upshall Smooth Billiard (P) (Replacement Stem) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-34022
The James Upshall pipe was first produced as a line of ultra-premium pieces from the workshop of Kenneth Barnes and Barry Jones, who split from Charatan in 1978. This piece is a smooth Billiard with an Apple-like bowl and jaunty demeanor. The shank is comparatively thin and transitions to the bowl smoothly, forming a sweeping heel that curves up to the rim, giving the fore of the bowl a deft arc, lending it the aforementioned Apple-esque shaping. Paired to this shank is a sleek saddle stem that offers a comfortable smoking posture and places further emphasis on the bowl thanks to the aft side's more slender build. The bowl overall is large and holds a broad chamber of appreciable depth within thick, insulating walls. The stem here is a replacement, so the price has been adjusted accordingly.
