English Estates: Dunhill Bruyere Christmas 'Eleven Ladies Dancing' (388/500) (4113) (2003) (Unsmoked) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-002-34103

Dunhill's Christmas pipe has been a yearly release from the English marque for well over four decades, the series becoming a tradition that's celebrated throughout the pipe world thanks to its unique presentation, limited production number, and the high quality of craftsmanship upon which Dunhill has built their reputation. Since its inception in 1980, each pipe has come complete with a presentation box, and, in 1982 these boxes were standardized to resemble leather-wrapped books, though it should be noted that this particular piece does not include the case. This pipe belongs to one of the Christmas pipe's longest-running sub-series: The Twelve Days of Christmas, which was released between 1993 and 2004. This bent Apple corresponds to the verse "Eleven Ladies Dancing" and was the Christmas pipe from 2003, taking on a timeless silhouette that's perfectly in line with the White Spot's traditionally-rooted Anglo-French shaping style. Up front, the bowl boasts a wealth of rounded contours, with supple walls and a plump outline that lends it both a comfortable feel in hand and a subtle bit of playful charm. A tight transition gives way to a trim, lifting shank that meets a slender and smartly curved stem of jet-black vulcanite at a silver-fitted junction. Said silver takes the form of a broad band that's been etched with the pipe's namesake phrase in a flowing, cursive script, the vibrant elegance of the silver's hues standing out in contrast against the dark Bruyere stain dressing the stummel.

The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.
