English Estates: Dunhill Bruyere (EC) (F/T) (4) (A) (1972) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-002-34835

While it may not be old enough to bear a Patent stamp, this timeless looking Canadian dates back to 1972 and exudes the stoic, refined charisma that makes Dunhill's shapes so enchanting. Pairing a pert bowl to a lengthy stretch of oval shank and an abbreviated, tapered stem of black vulcanite, this piece strikes a classic, streamlined profile. In Group 4 size, this piece boasts a lightweight disposition and offers plenty of "first quality" briar as denoted by the "A" stamp. That quality briar showcases plenty of birdseye across the bowl's flanks and lively cross grain that travels the length of the shank, all dressed in the smoky, dark Bruyere finish.

The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.
