English Estates: GBD Virgin Billiard (6448) (pre-1980) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-34595
GBD was founded in Paris in 1850, taking its name from the initials of its founders, Ganneval, Bondier and Donninger, originally producing meerschaum pipes before transitioning primarily to briar. GBD later relocated to London, where it became one of the most esteemed of the classic English marques, contributing greatly to the iconic style of Anglo-French pipe making. This "6448" Billiard is a fine example of GBD's work, placing a pert, rounded bowl atop a rolled heel at the fore of a robust round shank and sleek saddle stem of black vulcanite. Dressed in a rich natural finish, the stummel boasts impressive birdseye around the bowl.
