English Estates: Dunhill Bruyere (51011) (1982) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-002-35109

As iconic as their "03" straight Billiard, Dunhill's "01" Apple is a classic English shape and a stalwart example on the marque's pipe chart. More so than its Billiard brethren, this piece presents a touch more muscularity and curves through the bowl, prompting a more substantial feel in hand. This particular Group 5 offering from 1982 presents a robust shank-and-stem combination, with the shank itself remaining consistently thick until reaching the steady taper of the stem's jet-black vulcanite. Dressed in the warm, ruby tones of Dunhill's Bruyere finish, this pipe showcases some handsome grain and would be a great addition to any rotation or collection.

The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.
