English Estates: Dunhill Root Briar (635) (3) (R) (1961) (Replacement Stem) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-002-35171

A classic design from Dunhill, this vintage Billiard, fashioned in 1961, is a svelte rendition of a shape-chart icon. Featuring a tapering stem and a smooth transition, this pipe possesses an arrow-straight shank and proud, slightly bulbous bowl. The most remarkable aspect of this pipe is the grain structure on display, aided by the application of Dunhill's Root Briar finish, which showcases pinpricks of birdseye across the bowl's flanks. This shape originally came with a saddle stem, but the stem has since been replaced, though the price reflects this.

The highest honor for a Dunhill pipe is to receive the prestigious Root Briar appellation. Root Briars have been coveted by pipe smokers ever since they first debuted in 1931, due to the fact that each pipe must boast briar completely free of even the most minor of blemishes. Dunhill has the strictest of standards and expectations for quality with all of their pipes, and so any block of briar that comes to bear the Root Briar stamp must indeed be superlative.
