English Estates: Dunhill Root Briar (41031) (1978) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-35564
This vintage "03" Billiard by Dunhill is dated to 1978, which was before they retired their five-digit shape code designations. Rendered in Group 4 size, this pipe features a well-measured design illustrative of the archetypal Billiard. The bowl stands pert and upright, with smooth walls traveling straight from heel to rim. A proportionally balanced shank transitions from the bowl and pairs to a tapered stem. Dressing the stummel is a smooth, chestnut finish revealing handsome grain throughout.
The highest honor for a Dunhill pipe is to receive the prestigious Root Briar appellation. Root Briars have been coveted by pipe smokers ever since they first debuted in 1931, due to the fact that each pipe must boast briar completely free of even the most minor of blemishes. Dunhill has the strictest of standards and expectations for quality with all of their pipes, and so any block of briar that comes to bear the Root Briar stamp must indeed be superlative.
