English Estates: Dunhill Root Briar Patent (35) (R) (1937) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-35568
Dated to 1937, this vintage "35" Billiard from Dunhill is among their highly prized patent era pipes, featuring a timeless design in a lightweight figure. The bowl stands with a subtle forward cant, its smooth walls rising from the heel to the flat rim. A proportionally balanced shank transitions from the bowl and joins to a fetching cumberland stem that tapers evenly toward the bit: the material an extreme rarity given this pipe's age and finish. Dunhill's Root Briar finish dresses the stummel in a warm, hazelnut stain, highlighting cross grain along the top and pepperings of birdseye on both of the bowl's flanks.
The highest honor for a Dunhill pipe is to receive the prestigious Root Briar appellation. Root Briars have been coveted by pipe smokers ever since they first debuted in 1931, due to the fact that each pipe must boast briar completely free of even the most minor of blemishes. Dunhill has the strictest of standards and expectations for quality with all of their pipes, and so any block of briar that comes to bear the Root Briar stamp must indeed be superlative.
