English Estates: Dunhill Bruyere (5128) (1998) (Unsmoked) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-002-35473

Designated under the Group 5 size, this "28" Diplomat by Dunhill is classified under the heftier end of the spectrum, though its build is still of moderate proportions. As the Diplomat is derivative of the classic Prince shape, this pipe possesses a squat, Apple-shaped bowl, with its broad underside and supple walls creating a form that fits in the hand comfortably. A wide, muscular oval shank makes a smooth transition from the bowl, adding further support when held. Flowing from the shank is a tapered vulcanite stem, which bends gently to give the pipe a sleek silhouette. Dunhill's rich Bruyere finish dresses the stummel and draws out a wealth of handsome grain.

The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.
