English Estates: Dunhill Bruyere Patent (463) (F/T) (2) (A) (1954) (Replacement Stem) Tobacco Pipe

Dated to 1954, this vintage "463" Pot by Dunhill is among their highly sought-after patent era pipes. Furthermore, its compact stature and lean build come together to make a lightweight, comfortable pipe. The bowl is petite, with smooth, supple walls traveling to flat rim. A short shank transitions from the bowl and joins a lithe, lengthy stem that gradually tapers to the bit. Dressing the stummel is Dunhill's classic Bruyere finish, showcasing lovely birdseye on the bowl's right flank.

The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.
