English Estates: Imperial De Luxe Smooth Billiard (3) (early-20th century) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-36793
A rare treat here, this straight Billiard was carved by the Imperial Tobacco Company, an English marque founded in the early 20th century, with this piece being an early example of their work. The build of this pipe is appropriately traditional, presenting with an upright, if not slightly forward canting, bowl that's paired to an arrow-straight length of shank and stem via a wide transition. Said shank is possessed of a touch of extra muscularity throughout its stretch, and the taper of the stem is even and reserved, the duo balancing out the visual weight of the bowl quite well. Dressing this piece is an extra dark, Bruyere-like stain that unveils beautiful cross grain through the bowl, and striations of cross and flame grain through the shank.
