English Estates: Charatan's Make Distinction Dublin (City of London) (Extra Large) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-36854
Charatan boasts a long, well-respected history of pipe making, with Frederick Charatan founding the business in 1863. Known for their whimsical shaping style compared to other English marques, this strikingly tall straight Dublin fits right into that tradition. The bowl is more than two inches tall, with a subtle flare up toward its plateau-crowned rim, and the entire build here takes on a dynamic forward cant that pulls the eye to the fore. Out back, a straight stretch of thick shank and a sleek saddle stem lend a nice balance to the imposing bowl, and the pipe itself is possessed of a distinctly neoclassical charm. Dressed in a warm mahogany stain, the stummel here showcases some impressive grain, with flame and straight grain wrapping around the walls of the bowl.
