English Estates: Askwith Partially Rusticated Dublin (Unsmoked) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-002-36873

A pipe smoker since 2006, Chris Askwith got his start in the craft of pipe making by translating his expertise as a silversmith to restoring estate pipes. After a chance encounter in 2007 at a pipe club meeting, Paul Hubartt of Larrysson Pipes lent his tools to Askwith for the opportunity to create what would be his first pipes. After selling these pipes, Askwith used the revenue to outfit his workshop in Plymouth, England, where he makes all of his pipes by hand. Askwith's style takes Anglo-French shape standards and imbues them with playful twists, experimenting with finishes and proportions while still retaining precision in design.

A petite, lightweight take on the classic Dublin, this piece from Chris Askwith pairs traditional English shaping conventions with a stylish presentation. The bowl stands firm and upright, its walls gently flaring from the heel to a slightly rounded rim. A balanced shank transitions from the bowl and meets a tapered, amber-hued stem. Contrasting the acrylic's warm tones is an inky, rugged rustication dressing the stummel, with the bowl's rim featuring a light, smooth finish for a subtle highlight.
