With its lightweight build and plump figure, this Apple from Hardcastle boasts a comfortable presence in hand. From a slightly flattened heel, the bowl grows supple walls that curve gracefully as they reach toward the rim. A lean oval shank transitions from the bowl and joins to a sleek tapered stem of jet-black vulcanite. Dressing the stummel is a stimulating rustication, the briar's surface carved with a series of undulating grooves rippling up the bowl, all presented beneath a light, warm stain.
